2 Tim 3.16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

More Reflection on the Assassination Attempt of Donald Trump

As I documented in my detailed rebuttal of Covenant Theology, ancient King David had “more than his fill” of palace intrigue and political uncertainty. If ever a leader of a major economic and military force (ancient national Israel under David and Solomon) faced uncertain times, it was King David.

While the people, generally, were devoted to David, it is nonetheless true that he was surrounded with enemies. Psalm 41 is considered a Messianic Psalm, but nonetheless had a local, temporal fulfillment concerning those in David’s inner circle (or at least those relatively close to him):

Psa 41.9
Even my close friend in whom I trusted,
Who ate my bread,
Has lifted up his heel against me.

Indeed, even his own son Absolom turned on him and would have killed him if he [Absolom] had had the chance.

There are several instances in the Psalms in which David expresses the truth that he was frequently troubled by those who meant him harm:

Psa 25.2
Do not let me be ashamed;
Do not let my enemies exult over me.
Psa 35.1
Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me;
Fight against those who fight against me.
Psa 39.1
I said, “I will guard my ways
That I may not sin with my tongue;
I will guard my mouth as with a muzzle
While the wicked are in my presence.”
Psa 40.1-2
I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay,
And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
Psa 70.1
O God, hasten to deliver me;
O Lord, hasten to my help!
Psa 86.1-2
Incline Your ear, O Lord, and answer me;
For I am afflicted and needy.
Preserve my soul, for I am a godly man;
O You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You.
Psa 141.1
O Lord, I call upon You; hasten to me!
Give ear to my voice when I call to You!

My purpose in citing these texts is in no way to compare Donald Trump to ancient King David (the man after God’s own heart), much less to compare President Biden (a thoroughly corrupt and senile politician) with ancient King David.

My purpose is to show that even a man like King David, someone very close to the LORD, was uncertain of the events which surrounded him!

What lesson should we take from this? It should be the same lesson that King David expresses here:

Psa 131.1
O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty;
Nor do I involve myself in great matters,
Or in things too difficult for me.

Believer! Do you obey this, or persist in endless speculations? The political machinations of the Democrats get more twisted by the day, along with and the attendant conspiracy theories.

Believer! All matters are in the hand of the LORD. As I cited on 17 Jul 2024:

Isa 45.5-7
I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; that men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that there is no one besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the LORD who does all these.

Believer! Do you really think that you can determine the details and inner workings of the Divine Mind in our political machine, that you can peer into the political maneuvering of either party, and say, “This will be the outcome.” The political “elite leaders” themselves can’t even do this! You need to be reminded of this immutable truth: Isa 55.8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Be patient, be quick in prayer, and take control of your thoughts and doubts. The LORD knows what He is doing and He is under no obligation to share that plan with you, any more than He shared the details of many of the trials which King David faced.

Remember this promise extended to the LORD's true people (and not the lost!):

Rom 8.28
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
