The Complexity of the Trinity

This topic began to emerge when I made a thorough study of the Revelation. The prologue of that magnificent book states very clearly:

Rev 1.4-5a
John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

Clearly, we see here the Trinity:

  • Father: Him who is and who was and who is to come
  • Son: from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth
  • Spirit: the seven Spirits who are before His throne

There are three additional references to the "seven Spirits of God" in the Revelation. This article details how our view of the Trinity is likely much more complex than traditional doctrinal statements.

This topic is planned for a future article.
